House rules for readers

Reading Inkwellmoorgame costs nothing
Inkwellmoorgame is a free reading site about chess and classic board games played online. You can read every review, guide and comparison without creating an account, signing up for anything or paying us a penny. Nothing is sold here, and there is nothing to subscribe to.
By reading the site you agree to these terms. They are short and plain because the site itself is simple: we write about platforms we have played, and you are welcome to read, share and argue with what we write.
Our scores are opinions earned at the board
Every review, score and ranking on Inkwellmoorgame is the editorial opinion of our reviewers, formed after weeks of playing each platform. We work hard to describe features accurately, but platforms change their games, menus and memberships often, sometimes overnight.
If you spot something that has changed or that we have got wrong, please write to editors@inkwellmoorgame.com. We check every correction, update the review and date the change. We would always rather be corrected than quietly out of date.
Play buttons lead to each platform’s own site
When you press a play button, the official site of that platform opens in a new browser tab. From that moment you are that publisher’s guest, and their own terms of use and privacy policy apply to your account, your games and any purchases you choose to make there.
Some of these buttons are partner links. That arrangement never changes what we write or how we score, and the ranking on our shelf is decided by play alone.
Whose names, whose ink
The names and logos of the platforms we review belong to their respective owners, and we use them only to identify the games we are writing about. Lichess, Chess.com, Board Game Arena, PlayOK, Papergames.io and Chess Tempo are all their owners’ marks.
The words, illustrations, Wren the mascot and the design of Inkwellmoorgame are our own. You are welcome to quote short passages with a link back to the original page; please ask before reproducing whole reviews or guides.
Fair use of the site
Please read and share the site as you would any magazine. We ask only that you do not attempt to disrupt it, copy it wholesale, or present our writing as your own.
We may update these terms when the site changes, and the date at the top of this page shows the latest revision.
English and Welsh law applies here
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them. If you have any question about them, the editors are always happy to explain.
